Teaching as a Profession

(Google Classroom orsdltd)

Ever thought about teaching?

The Teaching as a Profession pathway is the perfect opportunity for you to explore the teaching profession. Why not investigate teaching while still in high school before you spend four years of college pursuing a teaching degree only to find that teaching just isn't for you?

You'll learn the history of education, philosophies of education, movers and shakers both then and now, instructional techniques, classroom management and more. And the best news...you don't have to spend every day listening and looking at me! You're spend time in the classrooms of local White County schools. You'll learn tips and techniques from master teachers. During the second semester, you will work side-by-side with a master teacher and actually teach a lesson.

Here's what former WCHS Teaching as a Profession students have to say...

"The Teaching as a Profession program opened my eyes to the dedication and importance of educators. Throughout my experience as a student teacher, I learned the importance of how one smile or one “good job” could change the world for a student."

-- Mackenzie Rickett

"The teaching as a profession pathway has encouraged me to become an educator in the future because I have witnessed the impact of a teacher and how the relationship between the student and teacher can help students not only academically but with their personal struggles as well."

-- Emily Jones

"I love how we get time in the classroom to interact with the kids. There's nothing like getting real-world experience on how to be a teacher."

-- Brooke Franklin

"I thought teaching was just a job. After taking Mrs. London's education class, I discovered that great teaching is a lifestyle."

-- Jacob Roche

"I recommend that everyone take this class! You learn so much and have fun learning. My favorite part is spending time in the classrooms. I really didn't know what grade I wanted to teach and now I know for a fact that I want to teach special education because that's where my passion and my heart is. Plus Mrs. London is the bomb.com!"

-- Emily Brown
