WORK-BASED LEARNING

Work-Based Learning (Google Classroom Code tkqbidg)


Work-Based Learning is designed to allow Juniors and Seniors to gain on-the-job skills and prepare for a career while still in high school. The program combines academic education, occupational instruction and work-based learning with an employer. Students are allowed to leave school to work for up to 3 blocks per day, provided they maintain a B average, are on track to graduate, have good attendance at WCHS and have very strong work ethics. WBL students are expected to maintain excellent attendance and discipline records while at WCHS.

Youth Apprenticeship

 

Youth Apprenticeship is a structured combination of school-based and work-based learning. Through a coordinated effort involving business and industry, Youth Apprenticeship addresses the dual of preparing students for the world of work and providing Georgia with a highly skilled, technologically competitive workforce.

Internship
 

Internships allow students to apply their classroom skills, gain on-the-job knowledge and workplace experience. Although internship students do not receive monetary payment, the experience received is invaluable.

Cooperative Education

 

Students participating in cooperative education experiences work in settings that allow them to utilize their Career Technical Education or Fine Arts Skills. These students work in a variety of settings and gain both work skills and life skills. Many students actually find a chosen career by working at several work sites while enrolled in Work-Based Learning.
